40/52: Autumn Daughter

November 2, 2014

Sometimes I wonder who this girl is. Could she be the same kid who needed help getting into her jammies every night? The one who cried if she got water on her face? What happened to that girl? Now she is hanging upside down on playgrounds., vacuuming floors, and seeding pumpkins.  I can see my baby girl’s childhood just beginning its descent toward the horizon line. Part of me wants to play Joshua and ask the Almighty for solar suspension. But then the light catches her just right and I get a glimpse of the person she will become. Through thickening atmosphere, the colors of fire, then the green flash.
